Barents Remote Sensing School (BARESS) is currently a time-limited project founded on a combination of University resources and external funds.

The external funding is provided by:

  • RDA – funds (Regional Differensiert Arbeidsgiveravgift), provided by Troms County. More information about RDA (in Norwegian) is found at
  • Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • The Research Council of Norway

The external funds currently cover the salary for the positions of several adjunct professors, postdoctoral research fellows and research fellows (Ph.D. students).

The Research Council of Norway funds Ph.D. student positions through the projects “Multi-Temporal SAR image analysis” (Romforkningsprogrammet) and “Arctic Earth Observation Technologies” (Forskningsløft I Nord).
